Freebies in the Mail.

I received my free DVD about Harriet Tubman today.  I can't wait to show it to my students.  I also got a free sample and coupon for Fekkai shampoo.  I've tried this before and it works well. 

Starz and Encore Free on Directv

Starting today through April 2, Directv is offering Starz and Encore for Free.  This is a great way to start SPRINGBREAK off by catching up on some free movies.  You will find these free channels 525-542.

The Price You Pay for a Movie

My teens are Hunger Game Fans, so of course they wanted to rush out to see the movie as soon as it was out.  I admit I am not an opening weekend movie buff.  I decided to give in and have a family night at the movie.  We tried to go earlier in the day and do a matinee, but it didn't work out that way ($8.50 each).  We finally got to the movies late in the evening and had to pay regular price ouch!  The tickets were $11 each times 5 (total $55).  That wasn't all my kids decided that they couldn't see the movie without popcorn, so after a trip to the concession stand where we spent another $40 I was not to happy to be out watching a movie.  When it is all said and done we all had a great time, but to the tune of $95. I think that is too much.  What is your limit?  How much do you spend when you take the family out to a movie and what do you do to cut down on the cost?

A time to Vent

I love couponing and have been a couponer for life.  I was the average carry a coupon booklet with inserts and pick up the things I absolutely needed, but now I try to live by a different creed.  Lately, I find myself not being able to find the best deals possible.  I may find one or two things that will make it worth going out, but many times I find that the deals are getting rather hard to find.  I am not complaining for I do save on some of the many things I use daily, but with the changing times I need more bargains.  Everything has increased in price even the gas alone it takes to go to the store has been a little disturbing.  I guess I just needed to share what's on my mind.  My husband says I shouldn't complain about things I have no control over, but I just couldn't help it.  Post your comments with finding deals and the gas it takes to get them. Does it balance out?

I was able to get 2 FREE MP3 players at CVS.  I purchased the Craig MP3 players for $9.99 each.  After purchase I used a CVS $4 off $20 purchase coupon paid OOP $17.10.  I received 2 $10 CVS gift card so total free plus profit.  WoooHOO!! The cash back portion of this deal is gone, but you can still get these at CVS for $9.99.  The original price was $79.99.

Good to check dates on Coupons

Well as I mentioned earlier I was not in a hurry to get out the house to go to the store.  I thought I had all the time in the world to do what I needed to do.  Well I didn't.  My coupons for Smithfield bacon expired today 3/11/12.  I gathered up the entire family and off to Kroger we went.  I purchased 10 packs of Smithfield bacon and a pack of oreo cookies.  My total OOP was $23.05.  I also was able to use my Kroger $1.50 ecoupon for oreo cookies.

Sunday's Plan

Well today got off to a slow start for me.  I got up looked at the paper and tried to map out a plan.  So far I know I want to stop by CVS and get the zyrtec and the cokes.  My family loves coke products and I think it is a great time to stock up for the summer.  I also want to stop by Kroger and stock up on Smithfield Bacon.  The bacon is on sale for $3 this week and I have several $1 off coupons.  I want to get enough bacon to feed the kids through the summer.  I may get out later today, but if not I will make these stops on my way home on Monday.  Let me know what you are looking for and what you find.  Leave a comment to tell me what you find.
